Hello, Intuition!

Have you ever had a gut feeling?
You know, that sensation in the pit of your stomach that demands your attention? It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where it’s coming from, but it can also show up as that nagging voice that says,

“Hey! Something is not right!”

or

“Don’t do that!”

or

“Yes! Yes! You’re going the right way! Proceed!!!”

Well, this is your intuition. It is your Higher Self communicating with you, guiding you, showing you, directing you, gently nudging you towards your most authentic Self and truest purpose. Sounds nice, right? Oh, it is! It definitely is, but only if you actually listen to your intuition.
See, a lot of the time, we don’t…For whatever reason. Sometimes we are just too scared to follow that voice or we lack the confidence and presence that is needed to march to the beat of our own drum. Most times, it’s simply because we are just not trained to listen to ourselves. We seek approval, acceptance and direction from everyone and everything around us. We’ve been taught to listen to our parents because they said so, to listen to the teacher or else we will get detention and to listen to the priest or else we will burn in hell. It’s not really instilled in us to tune into our own internal guidance and to follow our heart, fearlessly. We are essentially programmed to look for our answers OUTSIDE of ourselves. This creates a herd of followers and not nearly enough leaders.

Time to break the norms and change the program!
Going with your gut isn’t always the popular choice…Your friends may think you’re weird, your parents may think that you are lost in some act of rebellion and you may think you’re going off the deep end. Seriously, sometimes obeying your intuition is the hardest thing you’ll ever do. It means certain things will come to an end. It means new beginnings. It means seeing the Truth, even if you are really scared to face it.

We all have this intuitive ability. Yep, all of us. It’s just a matter of developing it and making it strong and actually using it. If you don’t use it, you lose it and this is the truth. It’s happened to me…

During a particularly difficult time in my life, of which I will spare you the icky details, I had a really hard decision to make….I mean a really, life-altering, earth-shattering, messy, crazy, impossible decision to make because of the ridiculous situation I put myself into. Well, my intuition was there through it all, guiding me, nudging me and trying to get my attention.

“NO! Save yourself from this mess!”

“Turn back! You are going the wrong way!”

“It’s a trap!”

“You’re going to regret this…”

Oh yeah, my intuition was on me hard-core, day and night….but did I listen? No, I did not. I pushed it down, ignored it, kept spiraling down and down and down… I was even experiencing physical sickness whenever I put myself on the wrong side of the fence…another way that Spirit speaks to us is through our physical body. Even that did not get my attention… Clearly I had to learn my lesson the hard way and boy oh boy, did I ever…

It did take some time to rebuild my connection with my Higher Self. This episode of insanity convinced me to ALWAYS go with my gut, even if the message I was receiving didn’t make perfect sense to me and even if the whole picture was not clear… Spirit always knows best. Our limited awareness, plus our self-serving ego, will undoubtedly get us into trouble… EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Leave the madness behind you. Strengthen your intuition. Fine tune your internal guidance system. Listen to the wisdom of your heart and above all else, learn to trust YOURSELF.

Here is an Intuition-Building Meditation for you to start today:

-Sit quietly and comfortably with your eyes closed and take a moment to set aside anything from your day. Allow yourself to completely arrive in the present moment.

-Breathe deeply through your nose, gently hold your breath for a moment and slowly release it. Keep breathing intentionally and mindfully for a few moments as you settle into your meditation. If you find yourself getting tangled up in your thoughts, just bring your attention back to your breath.

-After about 5 minutes, bring all of your awareness up to your Third Eye; Agya Chakra. This energy center deals with intuition, wisdom, insight and inspiration, and the more attention you give it, the stronger it becomes. Pour all of your awareness into this chakra; breathing deeply into it. Feel the presence of Light and divine healing energy awakening your Third Eye and activating your ability to see beyond the physical. Stay here for about 15 minutes.
-Then breathe deeply and release your awareness into your heart center, Anahata Chakra, bringing together the intuitive power of the Third Eye and the wisdom of the heart. Fill your heart with Light, Love and Gratitude. Write a promise on your heart that you will follow it fearlessly and honor whatever message it brings to you. Trust in the wisdom of your heart. It will not lead you astray.

-Staying in your heart-space, take a moment to be thankful for everything in your life; all of it. Light up every cell of your being with gratitude.

-Come back to your breath, taking some nice deep inhalations, followed by some full and complete exhalations. Gently rub your hands together and rub your Third Eye, throat and heart and slowly open our eyes.

Do this every day and experience your intuition growing stronger. Feel the powerful connection between your Third Eye and your heart and know that you are being guided and supported.

Now…Listen to your intuition and GO BE AWESOME!
