Clearing Your Space

Have you ever went into a place and immediately felt affected by its energy? Maybe you walked into someone’s house and felt instant peace, or perhaps you walked into work and just felt a heavy, draining feeling of YUCK! The positive or negative energy in a place can usually be felt immediately, by almost everyone. Every space you enter holds energy, from your workspace to your homespace and everywhere in between. To avoid, the heavy draining yucky feeling, it is really important to clear the air in your most commonly visited spaces and also to strengthen your own energy field so you won’t be affected by lower vibrational spaces. Granted, you cannot clear the energy in, let’s say, the mall or in your doctor’s office but you can make sure you clear the space where you work and especially in your home.

Your home is your kingdom. It is a place where you have the power to create whatever you want, however you want. You usually feel good when your home is in order and organized and when everything is clean and tidy. The energy tends to flow, it feels crisp and clear. When your home is in disarray and things are disorganized and dirty, you will also feel frenzied and all over the place. The way in which you keep your home says a great deal about how you keep your mind. Clutter has low, stagnant and confusing energy that will continuously drain energy from you. To avoid feeling this way, make sure that everything has a proper place and stays there. Yes, everything. And although it’s hard with kids and pets and spouses; keep your home clean. Just take 15 minutes a day to quickly go over everything, instead of keeping one day a week for cleaning the whole house, as this can become overwhelming. A quick wipe here and a vacuum there each day will make all the difference!

And although you may not be aware of it, old arguments, negative thoughts, and even objects can leave trails of negative energy throughout your home. Make sure to clear out anything that may be retaining old memories or experiences. It is highly beneficial to go through each room and burn a stick of white sage which purifies the space and dissolves negative energies. Bring the burning sage stick into each corner of the room, around the windows and doors in small clockwise motions. Visualize your space getting cleaner and purer, more positive and vibrant. You can even chant some mantras or affirmations that welcome positive vibrations. To really encourage the flow of positive energy, keep a candle lit in each room (safely and supervised, of course) and incense burning as well. Add some live plants and a Himalayan rock salt lamp and you’ve got yourself a blissed out abode!

Now, onto your workspace… It’s a little more challenging than keeping your home brimming with positive vibes. Your workspace is kind of a public domain and you are usually dealing with a lot of mixed energy from a lot of different people. But, that’s ok… just concern yourself with your little corner of the office, or your desk, your cubicle, your work van, whatever you consider to be your workspace. Again, cleanliness is next to godliness… they weren’t kidding when they said that, it’s true! Keep your area clean and organized. If there are papers all over your desk, file them… You will feel so much better. Clean out your email inbox. Make sure everything is free of dust and crumbs. If possible, open a window. Let fresh air and sunlight flow into your space. Light a candle if you can. Bring a plant for your desk. Add some pictures and colors that make you feel good. Put some inspiring quotes on the wall. Listen, most of us are at work more than we are home… Don’t be scared to make it your own! Create a happy place to be.

No matter where you are, actually, you can create your own positive energy field all around you. This is especially effective when dealing with unsavory co-workers or family members. You do not have to succumb to their negativity and you absolutely do not have to let it permeate your own personal space. Create an aura around you, so strong, that nothing can bring you down. Meditate regularly, every day, without fail. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, it really does make a difference. In your meditations, visualize yourself surrounded in a protective shield of white Light. The more you do this visualization, the more effective it will be and the stronger your energy field will become. You can bring this protective Light with you wherever you go. Create a Light, so powerful and so filled with peace, that even your nastiest most negative, nagging, gossiping, back-stabbing co-worker could not cause you stress. Just because they have a problem, does not mean that you have to have one too. Make sure your own space is clear. Let go of what no longer serves you. Clean it up. Clear it out. Shift your energy.
